RICHARD ANTINUCCI WILL START FROM ROW 10 TOMORROW IN THE CAMPING WORLD GRAND PRIX AT THE GLEN
The Novicomm LED Lighting Technology/CURB/Agajanian/Team 3G driver is focused and feisty for his IndyCar road course debut race
Saturday, July 4, 2009
SATURDAY'S NOTES
The demanding Watkins Glen road course tomorrow will host Richard Antinucci's debut in the IndyCar series, and the Italian-American is set to enjoy the ride starting from the outside of Row 10. The 28-year old rookie took part to the PEAK Performance Pole Qualifying joining Group Two of the first segment. The speed of 133.039 mph posted on his 10th completed lap ensured him the 10th position in the group, one spot ahead of Ed Carpenter.
The San Diego resident had claimed the 15th place during the morning free practice. At the wheel of the #98 Novicomm LED Lighting Technology/CURB/ Agajanian/ Team 3G Dallara-Honda, Antinucci who's joined the fray at the mid-season mark, put in the most laps in the field to make up for the lack of track time, posting his best time in his 33rd and last lap.
RICHARD'S TAKE
“We definitely enjoyed this morning to be right there next to some of IndyCar marquee names,
but sadly we were not able to confirm that kind of performance in qualifying. We've thought we could improve our free practice pace and therefore we went in a direction that, obviously, proved flat wrong as we wound up among those who barely improved their performance. Now we're set to move a step back to what we know was working, possibly tomorrow we'll dial in the car a little bit in the warm up session, and we'll try our best to be ready for the race. I waited a lot of time for this opportunity to join the league and now I feel I have to start giving back something to the people who have put me in this position.”
